Big Air Mechanical, LLC

Keeping you cool is what we do!

Protect Your Inventory With Refrigeration Services in Greenacres, FL

A commercial refrigeration failure can disrupt operations within minutes. Temperatures may rise, products can spoil, and employees may need to move inventory before it becomes unusable. Restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, and other businesses cannot afford to ignore a cooler or freezer that is losing temperature.

Big Air Mechanical, LLC provides commercial refrigeration services in Greenacres, FL, and throughout Palm Beach County. We install, repair, and maintain walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in refrigerators, beer coolers, wine coolers, and cold storage systems.

Our refrigeration contractor works to identify the cause of the problem and explain the available options. Whether you need refrigeration repair services, preventative maintenance, walk-in freezer installation, or cold storage construction, we can help you plan the next step for your business.

We also provide commercial HVAC services for businesses that need support with facility comfort in addition to refrigeration.

Commercial Refrigeration Systems We Service

Commercial cold storage is not limited to one equipment type. Each system has different temperature requirements, access patterns, storage capacities, and maintenance needs.

Walk-In Coolers

Walk-in coolers provide refrigerated storage for food, beverages, ingredients, and other temperature-sensitive items. Restaurants may use them for daily food preparation, while grocery stores may rely on them for backroom inventory.

Problems with doors, seals, evaporator coils, fans, controls, or refrigeration components can cause temperatures to fluctuate. Our team inspects the system to determine what is preventing consistent cooling.

Walk-In Freezers

Walk-in freezers must maintain lower temperatures while handling frequent door openings, product loading, and demanding operating schedules. Ice buildup, damaged seals, defrost problems, and component failures can interfere with operation.

A walk-in freezer installation requires planning for equipment placement, drainage, insulation, panel construction, door access, and storage use. We review these requirements before proposing an installation.

Reach-In Refrigerators and Freezers

Reach-in units give employees quick access to products during food preparation, retail service, and other daily tasks. Because these units are opened frequently, damaged gaskets and temperature problems can quickly affect operation.

We diagnose common reach-in equipment problems, including insufficient cooling, excessive cycling, unusual noise, water accumulation, and damaged controls.

Beer Coolers

Gas stations, convenience stores, bars, and restaurants need beverage coolers that can handle frequent door openings and changing inventory. The system must recover temperature after restocking or periods of heavy customer use.

We install and service beer coolers based on the property’s space, display requirements, storage volume, and operating demands.

Wine Coolers

Wine storage requires controlled temperatures that support product quality without exposing bottles to unnecessary fluctuations. Restaurants and specialty retailers may also have display, capacity, and access requirements.

Our wine cooler installation service accounts for the equipment location, storage goals, ventilation, and daily use. We can also inspect an existing wine cooler that is failing to maintain its set temperature.

Refrigeration Needs by Business Type

Different industries use commercial refrigeration in different ways. Selecting and maintaining equipment based on actual operations can reduce unnecessary strain and make stored products easier for employees to manage.

Restaurants and Food-Service Businesses

Restaurants depend on refrigeration for ingredients, prepared food, beverages, and frozen inventory. Equipment must maintain appropriate temperatures while kitchen staff open doors frequently during busy service periods.

Walk-in coolers, freezers, reach-in units, and wine coolers may all serve different roles within the same property. Maintenance can help identify worn door seals, dirty coils, fan problems, and other issues that interfere with cooling.

Grocery Stores and Markets

Grocery stores may need large cold storage areas, display cases, reach-in equipment, and backroom refrigeration. Product volume and long operating hours can place significant demands on the system.

Cold storage construction for a grocery business should account for inventory movement, shelving, door access, equipment capacity, and temperature requirements. A system that does not match these demands may struggle during restocking or high-traffic periods.

Gas Stations and Convenience Stores

Convenience businesses often rely on beer coolers, beverage displays, reach-in freezers, and refrigerated food storage. These systems may experience frequent door openings and changing product loads throughout the day.

Proper equipment sizing, door seals, airflow, and maintenance help the system recover after customer use and inventory restocking.

Bars, Hospitality Properties, and Specialty Retailers

Bars and hospitality businesses may require beer coolers, wine coolers, ice-related equipment, and refrigerated storage. Specialty retailers may have products with narrow temperature requirements.

We discuss how the equipment will be used before recommending installation or repair options. This helps align the refrigeration setup with available space and daily operations.

Signs Your Refrigeration Equipment Needs Repair

A commercial refrigerator or freezer may show warning signs before it stops cooling entirely. Early attention can reduce the risk of a longer interruption or additional equipment damage.

Contact Big Air Mechanical if you notice:

  • Rising Temperatures: The equipment cannot reach or maintain its set temperature.
  • Temperature Fluctuations: Readings change throughout the day without an operational reason.
  • Excessive Ice: Frost or ice accumulates on coils, walls, doors, or stored products.
  • Water Leaks: Moisture collects around the unit, drain, floor, or interior compartment.
  • Unusual Noises: Fans, motors, compressors, or other components begin rattling, buzzing, grinding, or clicking.
  • Damaged Door Seals: Gaps or worn gaskets allow cold air to escape.
  • Constant Operation: The equipment runs for long periods without reaching the desired temperature.
  • Higher Energy Use: Utility costs rise alongside longer run times or reduced cooling performance.
  • Product Concerns: Food, beverages, or other inventory no longer feels properly chilled.

Move temperature-sensitive products when necessary and follow applicable food-handling or inventory procedures. Do not continue selling or serving products if their storage safety is uncertain.

The Cost of Refrigeration Downtime

When refrigeration equipment fails, the repair itself may be only one business expense. Lost inventory, wasted ingredients, interrupted service, employee time, and emergency product transfers can add to the financial impact.

Improper storage temperatures may also create food safety concerns. Restaurants, grocery stores, and other food businesses must follow applicable storage and handling requirements. If product safety is uncertain, follow local health guidance and your business’s established procedures.

A struggling system can also increase energy use. Dirty coils, restricted airflow, damaged seals, worn components, and incorrect controls may force the equipment to run longer. Addressing these issues can help control avoidable operating costs and reduce strain on the system.

Commercial Refrigeration Repair

An accurate diagnosis begins with the symptoms and operating conditions. Our technician may ask when the problem started, whether temperatures changed gradually or suddenly, and whether the equipment received recent repairs.

A refrigeration inspection may include:

  • Temperature readings
  • Thermostat and control operation
  • Door seals and hinges
  • Evaporator and condenser coils
  • Fan and motor operation
  • Drainage and water buildup
  • Electrical components
  • Defrost operation
  • Visible refrigerant-related concerns
  • Equipment cycling and sound

After the inspection, we explain the findings and proposed refrigeration repair services. Repair time depends on the equipment, the failed component, parts availability, and site access.

If the unit is aging or repeatedly failing, we can discuss replacement. Financing may be available for qualified customers and eligible projects.

Walk-In Freezer Installation and Cold Storage Construction

A new walk-in cooler, freezer, or cold storage system should be planned around the business rather than selected solely by exterior dimensions. Product type, inventory volume, access frequency, shelving, door location, and available mechanical space all affect the installation.

Our planning process may consider:

  • Required storage temperature
  • Interior capacity and shelving
  • Door size and placement
  • Employee access
  • Panel and insulation requirements
  • Condensing equipment location
  • Drainage
  • Ventilation and equipment clearance
  • Electrical and control requirements
  • Future maintenance access

We coordinate the refrigeration portion of the project with the property owner and other trades when needed. You can also review examples of our work before discussing your project.

Preventative Refrigeration Maintenance

Preventative maintenance gives a technician an opportunity to inspect equipment before a developing problem causes downtime. Service frequency depends on the equipment type, business hours, operating environment, and system workload.

A maintenance visit may include checking:

  • Equipment temperatures
  • Door gaskets and hardware
  • Coils and accessible components
  • Fan and motor operation
  • Drain lines and pans
  • Electrical connections
  • Defrost controls
  • Unusual sounds or vibration
  • Signs of wear or refrigerant trouble

Maintenance cannot prevent every breakdown, but it can identify issues that are easier to address before equipment stops cooling. Clean coils, secure connections, and intact door seals may also support more efficient operation.

It is very rare for me to write a business review but I was so amazed by the service from Big Air Mechanical that I am motivated to write this. They were very prompt and courteous on the telephone, immediately understood the system that I needed replaced, and gave me different brand options. THEY DID NOT RIP ME OFF ON THE PRICE!!!!!!!! (As has been my experience with other contractors in this industry). "My guy," from another company wanted 40% more for a system with a lower SEER rating. Another quote was even higher than that! I know how much the components cost retail, and how long the job should take. The price from BAM was right in line for doing this job, and at a price that I paid with gratitude. They did the removal and installation the very next day. By all means this will be the only company I use going forward, and you should too.
